I won’t lie, I was incredibly nervous getting on the plane to take The Confetti Academy to Sydney for the first time, but it was beyond everything we could have hoped as we took over Sugar Republic at Myer on George St!
The jaw dropping venue, the suppliers I’ve been crushing on for YEARS, and the fun. We just had so much fun!
Walking through the doors we were quite literally kids in a candy store! With the most delectable desserts by the talented Sydney Donut Walls, Lapetite Pops, Sugar Cloud Cakes, SugarHQ greeted us for morning tea, we were jumping out of cakes and showering in confetti, with Born to Party balloons ready to carry us away.
Seated in our VIP (Very Important Party) room, our incredible gift bags were waiting, custom designed by the talented Astrid of Paper Playground. With door prizes from Kiki Sprinkles (www.kikisprinkles.com), Little Party Play, Ruby Rabbit (www.rubyrabbit.com.au) and business planner by Green Pea Books (www.greenpea.com.au/).
The first of our speakers Cherie of The Digital Picnic also travelled from Melbourne to join us, and was again the highlight of so many guests day! We were all hooked as Cherie was sharing her “Social Savvy” and helping us de-mystify the Instagram algorithm.
Followed by another incredibly inspiring tech head, Jess of Collabosaurus . Jess’ platform opens the door to so many opportunities – business to business, purposeful collaboration – and reinforced our message about the power of cross promotion and leveraging from our brands in a positive and exciting way.
Everything about our events industry involves working along side our fellow suppliers, combining creative minds, and building incredible events that sell a story or a product and service. If there were ever an industry the saying “Community over Competition” was most relevant, it is our own.
By lunch we were itching to get our co-create on, and it was the perfect timing to have Astrid from Paper Playground demonstrate how she builds her social media content before we headed into the incredible Sugar Republic armed with props by Ruby Rabbit Party.
There was product swapping, pink ball pit jumping, face painting and so many laughs as we took the opportunity to capture our products through the exhibition that would normally be off limits to commercial photography.
Lunch was another show stopper, with an incredible display by Lucie, Lucie’s Gourmet Kitchen on the playful backdrop of Sugar Republic’s lolly wall.
Feeling empowered and ready to get creative and create content, we were joined by some of of Sydney’s who’s-who in the events and entrepreneurial space.
But just as our jaws were starting to cramp from a day full of smiles, we met the three siblings behind Dessert Boxes. Oh, my, goodness! Did they make us laugh. Laugh so hard we cried! Sharing their incredible journey, with the naughty sense of humour only Dessert Boxes can, they had us captivated.
Thank you Sydney! Thank you for taking a chance on The Confetti Academy, and trusting a girl from Melbourne!! We can’t wait to do it again soon.
